About Justine

Justine obtained her Bachelor of Architecture with first class honours from the University of Cape Town in 1999. Since graduating she has worked for practices in South Africa, London and Australia.

Most notably, Justine worked as an Associate for 10 years at leading Sydney design practice, Brian Meyerson Architects (now known as MHN Design Union).

Justine led the design and managed the construction of high-end residential homes and interiors in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. While at Brian Myerson Architects, Justine also led the design of a number of apartment projects and commercial interiors.

After the birth of her 2 children, Justine’s design vision crystallised in the formation of Justine Reef Architecture & Interiors in 2012, enabling her to pursue her individual architectural journey.

This independence has enabled Justine to develop and strengthen her personal design aesthetic and relationships with her clients, which she believes is crucial to the success of any project.

In the process, Justine has managed to create beautiful Sydney homes and unique spaces in which to live. For Justine, the most rewarding part of her job is to exceed her client’s expectations of how a well-designed home can enhance one’s living experience.

The Studio

Justine’s 20 years of design experience and interdisciplinary skill set means a project can be seamlessly progressed from an initial set of hand drawn sketches all the way through to construction and site administration. With Justine, the design and construction process is progressed steadily and purposefully. Justine likes to guide her clients through the complex process of design and construction, assisting at each stage, so that educated and informed decisions can be made within timeframes.

Justine’s excellent communication skills and significant experience enable time-efficient and successful collaborative work with all builders and consultants. Justine is passionate and skilled in architecture and interior architecture, and she believes the planning of any space and its related interior design go hand in hand.

Each project is commenced after close communication with her client and a thorough understanding of their brief. As a result, each project is uniquely client and site specific.

In order to be environmentally respectful, Justine encourages her clients to select environmentally responsive materials and make sound and practical energy saving choices during the design process.
